What is it now
That we seek when alone
When all of our friends
Are on PC or phone
When we sit with our thoughts
and wish someone cared
when we think we are less
and at times we feel scared
We aren't where we wish
Our plans have gone south
So we write in our journal
the teeth grit in our mouth
Nervous we grow
and doubtful we seem
when times are so hard
on our own self esteem
So we sit there alone
and fiddle with pen
we put it to paper
and the catharsis begins
We write of our dreams
and our feelings of stress
in the journal we write
as we quickly confess
Each flaw that we see
each mistake we perceive
is placed there before us
and the words never leave
They sit and remind you
where you were on that day
the way that you thought
and the words you could say
That journal to you
is the friend you so need
the one who will listen
never do you plead
For a minute of time
or a friend to confide
because the journal is there
it won't run and hide
It won't judge you or laugh
when you feel like your dumb
it won't keep you from feeling
when everythings numb
I have many, all full
and I still write you see
because the best friend I can have
is the one I call me
That we seek when alone
When all of our friends
Are on PC or phone
When we sit with our thoughts
and wish someone cared
when we think we are less
and at times we feel scared
We aren't where we wish
Our plans have gone south
So we write in our journal

Mark - I love it!! Just yesterday I was encouraging my daughter to continue writing in her journal when stressed. This is perfect! I am going to print this out as a reminder to her (and myself) on how beneficial and therapeutic journaling can be. Thank you for capturing it so beautifully!
